Job Title

Travel RN – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) / Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Days | 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiovascular and vascular surgery stepdown unit, managing post-operative patients following procedures such as open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Manage epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, and IV Glucommander protocols
• Administer and monitor cardiac drip infusions including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Utilize Cerner EMR and operate Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps
• Maintain a 1:5 patient ratio; provide care to overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Float as needed to other stepdown units (1:5), medical-surgical units (1:6–7), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Active RN license applicable to the state of North Carolina
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Ability to meet weekend requirements: minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period
• Flexibility to work holidays

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year
• CVICU experience
• Team-oriented with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Adaptable and flexible in a high-acuity clinical setting
