About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiovascular Progressive Care – North Carolina

Start Date: September 4, 2026

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Full-time assignment with rotating shifts (day/night). Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period. Holiday flexibility required. No call responsibilities.

Highlights:

• 40-bed cardiovascular progressive care unit specializing in CV surgery, vascular surgery, and medical cardiology
• Primary patient population includes post-surgical open heart (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5 in a fast-paced, high-acuity stepdown environment
• EMR system: Cerner; Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and patient lift systems
• Responsibilities include epidural management, chest tube care, cardiac drip titration (phenylephrine, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, heparin, nitroglycerin, and more), tube feedings, and IV glucommander use
• Contract length: 13-week assignment with opportunity for extension

Requirements:

• Active RN license in North Carolina (or compact state license)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year recent stepdown and telemetry experience (required)
• Recent experience with CV surgery and vascular surgery populations strongly preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
• CVICU experience is a plus
• Ability to float to other stepdown (1:5) or medical-surgical (1:6-7) units as needed
