Job Description

We are a family-owned small business that is looking to hire a second office person to help out with office and book-keeping tasks. Hours are 7:30am-5pm Monday-Friday, but we are seasonal from March to mid-December with reduced hours during the off-season months. We also typically take off Dec 24th to Jan 1st.

Requirements:

Primary duties and responsibilities

• Accounts Receivable - Compile and post details of business transactions, such as invoicing and processing funds to the accounting general ledger and bank
• Accounts Payable - Prepare invoices, checks, statements, reports, and other records and reviews for accuracy
• Ensure collections occur on a timely basis
• Reconcile reports, discrepancies, and problems
• Answer, direct, or take messages for all account inquiries
• Payroll
• Permits
• Monthly/quarterly tax filings
• End-of-year tax documents (W-2's, 1099's, etc)
• H/R (401k, health plans, drug tests, job applications, etc)
• Other duties as assigned

Job Expectations

• Accurately compile, record and maintain data used for accounting records
• Maintain a high level of visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time
• Analyze and interpret business transactions
• Read, analyze, and interpret industry-related materials
• Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees
• Ability to solve complex accounting problems and deal with numerous variables concerning company accounts
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent certificate
• Two-year associate degree in accounting preferred OR equivalent experience
• Two or more years of prior work experience in an office environment
• Proficient with information technology tools and applications (e.g., PC/Windows, Office applications, business systems, QuickBooks, etc.)

We have branches in Davenport, IA; Des Moines, IA; Lincoln, IL; and Omaha, NE and we operate seasonally from March 1st-December 23rd, with reduced hours during the off-season. Overall, we have 8 employees that work full-time throughout all locations.
